I Am Unable To Open Microsoft Office Documents After Installing Cloudmark DesktopOne


In rare cases, some customers find that they are unable to open Microsoft Office documents after installing Cloudmark DesktopOne by clicking directly on a saved document icon.


There are two possible solutions to this issue. We will use Excel in the solutions below, but if you are having these issues with multiple Office applications, you may need to repeat these steps in each of the applications exhibiting this behavior:

  1. Right-click on any saved Excel document, and choose: "Open With" then: "Choose Program."
  2. Select Excel from the list box, and check the box at the botom that says: "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."
  3. Click OK.

If that doesn't work, try this:

  1. Open Excel from your All Programs list.
  2. In Excel 2003 and earlier, click on "Tools," then "Options" then click the "Advanced" tab.
  3. In later versions of Excel, click on the Windows Globe in the upper left corner, and choose "Excel Options" in the lower right corner of the menu window that appears, and then choose "Advanced" from the navigation menu on the left.
  4. Under the "General" section, make sure that the box next to "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" is unchecked.
  5. Click OK.
