Configuring an IMAP account

When you select an IMAP account for filtering, you can configure the following:

How to configure IMAP server information

  1. Open the Accounts window.

    See Using the Accounts window.

  2. Next to your IMAP account, click Configure....

    The account settings window appears.

  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Enter your IMAP server's information.

    If you are unsure, consult your Internet service provider or your system administrator. You can click Test Settings... to verify that the settings you entered result in a successful connection between DesktopOne and the server.

  5. Click OK.

How to select folders to scan automatically

  1. Open the Accounts window.

    See Using the Accounts window.

  2. Next to your IMAP account, click Configure....

    The account settings window appears.

  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Verify that the Root Folder field contains the correct path to your IMAP root folder on the server.

    If you are unsure, consult your Internet service provider or your system administrator.

  5. Click the Folders... button.

    The Select From Folders window appears.

  6. In the folder list, select the checkbox next to each folder you want DesktopOne to scan automatically. Deselect the checkbox next to any folder you do not want scanned.
  7. Click OK to close the Select From Folders window.
  8. Click OK to close the account settings window.

How to select the spam detection action

  1. Open the Accounts window.

    See Using the Accounts window.

  2. Next to your IMAP account, click Configure....

    The account settings window appears.

  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Detection Actions box, select the desired action.

    The following actions are available for IMAP accounts:

    • move to a specified folder

      If you select this action, you can also choose to purge spam from the folder after a specified number of days.

    • delete the message instantly and permanently
  5. Click OK.
